Film and Fare Pairing: Movie Brunch

MovieIt’s a multi-sensory dining experience when movies are added to the menu. The Grange is adding an afternoon matinee to accompany lunch and dinner on select Sunday afternoons.

The classic 1950 black and white drama, D.O.A., with Edmond O’Brien, is scheduled for the inaugural May 29th movie day, and will be preceded by a selection of shorts.

Included in the prix fixe price of $45:
~ a selection of tapas-style appetizers;
~ choice of entrée;
~ dessert from a Viennese table;
~ one complimentary glass of champagne or mimosa; and coffee or tea.
The additional full-service selection of beer, wine and soft drinks will be available for purchase.


Watch a movie while you enjoy the signature farm-to-table style culinary that is always found at The Grange. A selection of blockbuster, independent, art, B rated, and even cult classic films available from the public domain, will be projected onto a projection screen suspended from the indoor brick wall of the dining room.

Two seatings will be offered at 12:00pm and 3:30pm. Previews will begin promptly at 12:15pm and 3:45pm.Upcoming movies will be announced on The Grange facebook page.

IMG_0942Let us help you make this Mother’s Day extra sweet with a delicious brunch to celebrate the ladies we love. Mom will feel like a queen when she’s served a hand made three-course prix fixe brunch at The Grange this Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 8th, 2016.

Mother’s Day Prix Fixe brunch is $35 per person ($20 per child 12 and under), served from 12:00pm-6:00pm (last seating at 5:00pm).

The Mother’s Day menu will include selections like:
APPETIZERS/SALADS
~Red Pepper Bisque with Tonjes Farmer’s cheese, wild ramps and garlic croutons.
~Scheurmann Farm’s sweet corn fritters with spicy creme fraiche.
~Homemade Pork Belly Salad, with Randy’s poached egg, Bracco Farm’s baby lettueces, roasted peppers, feta and Tonje’s buttermilk dressing.
~Pasta or Rissoto (TBD)
ENTREES
~Lowland NY Strip & Eggs, with roasted asparagus and hollandaise.
~Lowland Pork Chop with potato pancakes and roasted beet and green apple salad.
~Fish (market, TBD)
DESSERTS
~Full selection from daily menu.

Hints of Summer Wine Dinner a Success!

Last Thursday’s Hints of Summer Wine Dinner was truly spectacular! The food, the wine, the staff and the atmosphere made for a perfect evening. Thanks to everyone who made it out for our wine dinner, the first of an upcoming series. Attendees enjoyed locally sourced cuisine prepared by Chefs James Haurey of The Grange and Josh Tomson of The Lodge at Woodloch paired with a well crafted selection of wines presented by Travis Glohs DWS of Skurnik Wines.

We hope to see you at our next wine dinner coming up in June, when The Grange will host another surprise guest chef.

Charming Imperfections Never Tasted So Sweet

Flourless Chocolate Cake served with Fresh Whipped Cream and Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream at The Grange, Warwick, NY.

 

No photoshop needed here. It’s not about physical perfection when it comes to this intensely rich dessert. This cake’s charm is found in its cracks and dents. When taken from the oven, it will slowly deflate and crack. This cake’s character comes from its flavor.

A limited ingredient list fills this cake with a buttery chocolate richness, while making it easy to prepare. Brittney deftly turns out dozens of ramekins filled with flourless chocolate cakes, which are whisked straight from the oven to be devoured by eager diners.

Dare to try this at home? Prepare yourself to be bowled over by the rich decadence of this dessert that features chocolate and butter, along with a short list of only three additional ingredients.

Flourless Chocolate Cake Recipe

  • 325⁰ Convection
  • 4 oz. Semisweet Chocolate, chopped
  • 8 oz. Unsweetened Chocolate, chopped
  • 8 oz. Unsalted Butter
  • 1/2 C Water
  • 1 C Sugar
  • 5 Eggs
  • 1/3 C Sugar

Melt chocolate and butter in a double boiler and stir until smooth. In a saucepan, combine water with one (1) cup of sugar and bring to a rapid boil. Reduce heat and cook until sugar is dissolved, approximately two minutes. Remove from heat and stir into chocolate/butter mixture. Beat eggs and one third (1/3) cup of sugar until light and frothy. Fold chocolate mixture into egg mixture. Gently and quickly pour batter into sprayed plastic wrapped ramekins. Place molds inside a hotel pan. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes. Remove from oven.
